Visa to Ethiopia
for citizens of Ireland

In order for us to be able to obtain a visa for Ethiopia for you, we need the following documents completed:

Tourist visa to Ethiopia:

• Valid passport (needs have at least 6 months validity remaining after your return date and needs to have 2 empty pages)
• Completed and signed visa application form
• 1 recent passport photo (3x4cm)
• Copy of your flight tickets
• Copy of your hotel confirmation
• Copy of your residence permit (for people without Irish/British passport)
• Completed order form

Business visa to Ethiopia:

• Valid passport (needs to have at least 3 months of validity remaining after your return date and needs to have 2 empty pages)
• Completed and signed visa application form
• 1 recent passport photo (3x4cm)
• Copy of your flight tickets
• Letter from either your company or the inviting company in Ethiopia, which states the purpose and duration of travel.
• Copy of your residence permit (for people without Irish/British passport)
• Completed order form

Processing time for the visa

• 1-2 days after the receipt of the passport

• Fully completed applications forms of print media journalists, photojournalists film production crew may take from 2 to 5 working days to process.

Important information about the visa

• Visas are valid from the date of issue up until the date of expiry on the visa and NOT from the date of arrival in Ethiopia.
• Visa holders are only entitled to stay in the country up until the date that the visa expires
• No visas are issued at border crossing points.
• Transit passengers continuing to a third country within 12 hours, provided that they do not leave the airport and are in possession of all of the required valid travel documents and visa for onward destination do not require a transit visa
• The fees for visas for minors and adults are the same
• Credit cards are now being more widely accepted across the country
• Some banks in Addis Ababa and a few others in the main cities issue cash withdrawals on cards up to a value of US$500.00 per day, paid in birr
• ATMs for Visa and other cards can now be found in some banks, and in a few of the main hotels in Addis Ababa’s.
• A foreign currency exchange service is also provided in many banks in Addis Ababa
• Travelers’ checks can be exchanged into cash in many banks
